Three Lessons for Success from CMMS Implementation Failure

If you’ve already been down the CMMS road and found it bumpier than you thought it would be, you might feel a little wary about another attempt.

Mateo knew the pitfalls from last time, so he could not only focus what he needed in the new software, but also what problems he wanted to avoid this time.

For example, his old CMMS software was clumsy and time consuming to use, so his techs avoided using it as much as possible. That led to inaccurate data being captured and some data not being captured at all. 

“We needed to make it as easy as possible,” Mateo explained. “So, customization in MPulse was key. We made our MPulse work orders look like our old paper work orders, then used custom dropdowns to make it faster to use rather than write everything down on paper.”

Call in the Experts

Mateo knew one of his biggest mistakes the first time was investing in software, but not implementation services. As a result, his software was never set up properly.

MPulse’s implementation services helped Mateo get his new CMMS software set up right the first time by guiding his organization from purchase through a successful “go live” day.

“It’s far more cost effective to get an expert to do it right the first time,” he said. “I don’t send my plumbing guy to fix an electrical issue.”
