SPOTLIGHT ON NORTH SHORE LIJ |
As the largest employer in Long Island and one of the largest healthcare
systems in the United States, the North Shore-Long Island Jewish (LIJ)
Health System is "Setting New Standards in Healthcare" every day.
Headquartered in Great Neck, New York, North Shore-LIJ Health System
caters to Queens, Staten Island, and Long Island with
the goal of providing an unparalleled spectrum of services. The company
boasts 15 hospitals (including three world-class tertiary hospitals,
as well as a nationally recognized children's hospital and a psychiatric
facility, hospice and home care services, a major medical research
institute, and numerous other health-related facilities).
Recently, our Sales Manager, Cheryl Holmes, had an opportunity to
speak with Rosann Bosso, Projects & Contract Coordinator - Real Estate
Division. Rosann's position requires her to keep track of vendor contracts
and inspection records in order to comply with the Department of Health's
and the Joint Commission of Hospital Accreditation's requirements.
The most important feature in MPulse that Rosann utilizes is the ability
to track multiple contracts per facility. Emergency systems, including
fire and safety, egress lighting, generators, alarms, and sprinklers
are just a few of the contracts they manage. Other contracts include
air conditioning, oil burner services, landscaping, and snow removal.
Rosann has taken advantage of MPulse's customizable options and created
an extensive template to track all of this data. This allows her to
dispatch work quickly, as well as renew and review contracts. Rosann
also utilizes additional MPulse features by customizing the work order
and scheduled maintenance screens.

Recently, North Shore-LIJ was given the task of creating metrics on
maintenance statistics. "I was able to push a button, pull the information
into [Microsoft Excel™], and create the reports," Rosann told us. "I
don't think we could have done it, had we not had MPulse. It certainly
has simplified keeping track of what we do and how we do it."
For their next project of implementing mobile technology, Rosann mentions
that she is looking forward to working with the MPulse support staff
again. "I call MPulse Support all the time with questions, that I
think are silly, and they don't laugh at me. They work with me to
pull the right question out. They are patient and always answer my
questions."
