Rexam Sussex is a global company that provides packaging solutions for the beauty, food, beverages, and healthcare industries. They employ 350 people and their manufacturing facility handles roughly 60+ plastic injection-molding presses, as well as hundreds of specialty assembly equipment. Of the many machines necessary to produce their products, Rexam uses molding machine part-extraction robots to deliver various components from the molding machine to assembly equipment. Recently, our Sales Manager, Cheryl Holmes, spoke with Victor Rohrig of Rexam Sussex about how their company has implemented MPulse. By using MPulse's many facets, Victor has accomplished several feats for his company. "Recently we were able to justify the purchase of a new robot based on the data that we had collected in MPulse. We were also able to satisfy our Lean Manufacturing auditors [and] we were able to score well using MPulse. We were able to create a PM system that is easy to follow [and] has been simple with MPulse, but being able to show trends [that], over the years, we had reduced downtime and maintenance costs, even though the equipment is aging."With the information from MPulse, he is able to pre-plan maintenance based on when equipment is most likely to fail, plan to replace, or PM (as necessary) to avoid down-time. He is also able to show, graphically, how he has been able to reduce down-time and maintenance costs, even on older robot equipment. "The system is simple to use; closing work orders takes as little as 20 seconds. The inspectors and auditors loved the color reports. I never knew how much impact it could have. I have been put in charge of [working] with the other departments to implement MPulse Maintenance throughout the plant."Now, Victor can proudly boast that he is the TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Team Lead based on his reports using MPulse. While we can't guarantee that our software will promote everyone who uses it, that's certainly great news for Victor.
